Utah. The Arches.

Its been great having a National park pass for the last few months. I wasnt sure at first if we would use it that much but man it sure has saved us some money. I think it cost about 70 bucks for the year, well worth it if your out west and have time to visit even a few of the parks. I’ve never been to southern Utah and like Sedona I have wanted to see the place and the area so we stopped in Moab. The first thing I noticed abvout the area was the rock. Deep orange red sandstone. Weathered rock formations and flat topped mesas. The landscape is inviting, saying”come just start walking and I will show you,” With deep blue sky as the backdrop the place felt easy to be in , even the hustle of downtown Moab was manageable because the setting was so enchanting. We parked next to a small park on the west side of town for the night . No hassles here in this town, this is a place for campers and drifters, exploreres and adrelinine junkies and big RV’s. Again it happened around 230 am . I woke up in the stillness and felt the urge to get outside and walk. So I dressed and grabbed the dowsing rods and headed out. Super quiet, starlight, no moon. I asked the rods to show me where to go. They pointed behing the bus through a grassy lot and over a chainlink fence. Then down a sidewalk through a neighborhood a few blocks. I love the feeling of being up and walking around while all the people are sleeping, oh to be in dark neighborhoods, walking . Especially when dogs dont bark!

I walked another block or two then the rods crossed right in the middle of a street, under a srtreetlight. I felt again the sense of stuck energy in the grid. I said a prayer and watched the rods open to show the work was complete. I said thank you , just as a dog barked from behind a house, maybe it felt the shift too. I trust that whatever is happening with me standing on the “spot”is for the highest good of all. And deep down I dont really know if anything is happening, maybe its just my imagination wanting to be part of helping out in some way. All I can say is that after fooling around with dowsing over the last 20 years, these bent coathangers in my hands have led me on some ptretty fun adventures, tally ho! Anyway, we spent the next day driving through Arches National monument that is only a few miles from Moab. We dropped the trailer in the visitor center parking lot to make the driving easier and to be able to pull off at secenic stops. We tried to get into Zion Park the week before but they woiuld not let us in the park cause we were too long…they had nowhere to drop the toad. But here it worked out great. The park was spectacuklar. 45 plus miles of road to drive thru and armed with a map we set out. The speed limit was 35 mph which was perfect for us. The formations of the rock, the space all around, the natural arches made for a place that I just wanted to walk the whole place on foot. All I could keep thinking was to have a small pack , a warm jacket and handfull of magic mushrooms. Man i wanted to camp out here! Soo inviting and gentle of a landscape that i have ever seen. We stopped at one of the trailheads that led to a pair of huge arches. Inanna set up the sun oven and baked a loaf of bread. We walked a short half mile trail to the arches. Nowa and Ivy climbed all over the soft smooth rock. I found a nice flat spot on the rock and just lay down. The warm rock and the sun on my face had me drifting off into a light sleep. I dont know how much time had passed, but when I came to and turned my head there were a few other people doin the same thing! It was soothing to be there in that place. My whole nervous system seemed to reset. After a bit Nowa and i headed back to rhe bus, we took a jaunt off the trail and up and over a few rises in the rock. We stopped quick as we saw a animal carcass on the rock. Just a bleached out skeleton of a jack rabbit. I noticed all the fur was gone and nothing left except one left foot. The foot still had all the fur and nails, completly presrved from the wind and sun. I thought it good luck so I snapped it off and said a thank you. Nowa thought it was gross but I stuffed the lucky foot in my pocket and we headed back, I’ll take all luck I can get therse days. We ened up staying at this spot the rest of the day. On the way out we hooked up the toad and said goodbye to a really sweet place and drove north into the twilight.
